All You Need

AmountIngredient
5 ozOatly Barista Edition
1/4 tspsalt
1/4 tsplactic acid powderor 33 g lemon juice
1 3/4 ozboiling water
15 ghojicha powder
2 ozmaple syrup
4 dashesorange bitters
8 1/2 oznon-alcoholic spiced spirit(or rye whiskey)
Garnish: orange twist

Tools

  • Glass
  • Electric mini whisk
  • Large vessel
  • Paper coffee filters
  • Peeler(for orange zest)

To-Do List

  1. Add salt, acid, hojicha and boiling water to a vessel and mix with an electric mini whisk until dissolved
  2. Add maple syrup, bitters, rye and chilled Oatly Barista Edition (this should curdle)
  3. Pass curdled mix through paper coffee filter until the mix is clear (you will have to pass the first cloudy bit through a second time)
  4. Bottle the clear mixture and store in fridge
  5. To serve, pour 4 oz over clear ice and garnish with orange twist
Step 3 is important: if you skip this, the clarified mix will become hazy as soon as it is poured over the ice
