WHAT DOES MIAMI
ACTUALLY TASTE LIKE?

WE ANSWERED THAT QUESTION BY MAKING SPECIALTY COFFEE DRINKS INSPIRED BY MIAMI'S BIGGEST LEGENDS. AND WE DID IT OUT OF THE TRUNK OF AN OLD CAR.

Tastes Like Miami, with Oatly

IT’S NOT HARD TO SELL MIAMI TO A SWEDISH OAT DRINK COMPANY. WHITE SAND BEACHES AND NONSTOP SUNSHINE? THE OPTION TO WEAR A SWIMSUIT TO DINNER? SIGN US UP… AND PLEASE PASS THE CUBAN SANDWICH.

Unfortunately, we usually need “a good reason” to visit a magical city like Miami (the finance department is constantly on our case). That’s why coffee culture is so great—because we can always be like, “Hey, we know stuff about that.” So, we came up with an elaborate creative strategy to highlight Miami’s vibrant coffee scene that goes way beyond what any travel brochure might tell you (assuming travel brochures are still getting printed).

A vintage car trunk converted into a mobile coffee bar with plants, a coffee machine, and accessories, set in a sunny outdoor area.

First, collab with a local coffeemaker to invent unique specialty coffee drinks that represent Miami’s characters and personalities. Then have those characters taste their drinks on camera and give slightly awkward takes in public while being quizzed by a tall Oatly person with a microphone. And for no obvious reason, make the specialty coffee drinks out of the trunk of a vintage car that threatens to overheat at any stoplight it sits at for more than six seconds.

The idea played much better in an Oatly conference room than it probably is right now—but none of that even matters at this point. All of the sunscreen has been expensed and the coffee drink recipes have been designed and given funny names.

THE NEON MERMAID

To believe a mermaid is a mythical creature that doesn’t exist is to not believe we found one on the shores of Miami that we asked to sit in a folding chair like a human person and try an iced coffee drink with something called blue spirulina in it.

THE CAFÉ RUBANO

Famous Miami character actor Ruben Rabasa is proof that a man is not defined by the simple specialty coffee drink an oat drink company makes for him. That’s probably why he drank eight of them and drove off in the car we rented without telling us where he’s going. If you see him around town, tell him we need it back.

THE DOUBLE
MATCHA
POINT

It’s hard for us to convince professional athletes to taste Oatly products on camera ($$$), which is why we invented a green coffee drink with a clever name for twin tennis influencers who were skeptical of their involvement in "whatever this is" (their words) and left without saying goodbye.

THE THICK NICK

If you’re a Miami rapper with “sweetheart” tattooed across your stomach, we will make you a coffee drink with an Oatly ice cream topper and deliver it to you on the streets of Miami. Then we will be forced to censor most of your reaction because you love it too much.

THE SPACEMAN

There’s at least one legal way to survive a long night at an infamous Miami nightclub: shots of espresso. For the club’s legendary doorman to survive that same long night … well, he gets an iced latte designed special just for him. Edible gold glitter included.
