All You Need

AmountIngredient
200 mlOatly Barista Edition
30 gvegan hot chocolate powder or flakes
40 mlboiling water
Koji caramel
  • 120 ml Oatly Barista Edition
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 50 g koji paste(aka shio-koji)

Tools

  • Cup
  • Saucepan and hob
  • Whisk

To-Do List

For the koji caramel:

  1. Add koji paste and Oatly Barista Edition to a pan, whisk together over low heat
  2. Melt sugar in a new pan over medium heat
  3. Watch the sugar carefully, stirring occasionally to avoid burning
  4. When the melted sugar is a deep amber, reduce heat to low and add the warm koji-barista mix, whisking until smooth
  5. Simmer for 1–2 minutes then set aside to cool

For the drink:

  1. Drizzle a tbsp of koji caramel around the rim of your cup
  2. Add the hot chocolate powder/flakes, 1 tbsp of koji caramel and hot water to a cup, stir to melt the chocolate
  3. Heat the Oatly Barista Edition and pour over the chocolate mix
